Have you heard the song 'Is there life out there?' - I believe by Reba McEntire. Well guess what? There is! I had a very nice Memorial Day weekend and I hope you all did too. I got to enjoy the Hood River area on the back of a motorcycle, hiking and sitting on the banks.

So lucky to have warm, sunny weather, too. On the way home to the coast Monday afternoon, I was happy to see that everyone else was leaving the coast.

For the last couple of weeks I've been attending our Search and Rescue Academy 3 times a week. I am learning so much.

I know it's officially summer now. My favorite season. But I had no idea how the temps were heating up!

We had several celebrations this past month. First we had a celebration for Amanda. She was appointed by the Governor as a Circuit Court Judge. She is so deserving of this position. The fact that she asks us to stand when she gets home and to call her Your Honor seems like a lot, don't you think? Should it be Your Honor Mommy? Or Mommy, Your Honor?

Between that and Amanda's birthday, there were a lot of sweets at her home. Madeline had no problem climbing to get what she wanted.

And, really, when you see that face............

Alistair and Ahnika, way across the country, are excelling on their ball teams.

I have never been a gardener but I was thrown into it when I bought this house. So many things blooming!

I have actually started back running. My ankle is doing fine - no pain. My cardio? Ugh. It's soooo hard. But at least I'm back on the streets. Wait, that doesn't sound right.....

Don't you think these are the legs of a future ballerina?

Hmmmm. Well at least they stay on their side of the bed.

Ah-TEN-SHUN!!!!!!!!

Do you have to wonder why I take so many pictures ?

And now some random photos during my runs and hikes.

And when I decide to stay home and just put my feet up, I've always got company.

I hope you are getting outdoors in some way. It improves your world.

One step at a time,

Anne

So I've decided to enter the dating scene.

This guy was so not perfect.

I'm moving along with my physical therapy. Can you believe its almost been 12 weeks! I have permission to start on a run/walk plan. Believe me this is such good news. I'm still on a exercise plan of strengthening my ankle and balance. I'm thinking I now have a great excuse when I trip and fall over nothing on the sidewalk. Darn surgery.......

Speaking of excuses. I have gone back and forth if I should include this picture in this blog. I haven't been able to come up with a believable excuse. I went to Corvallis to get dogs to the groomer and do some shopping. This is what I noticed AFTER I got home.

1: The pink shoe is more comfortable on the left foot and the blue shoe is more...... No?

2: The two colors matched my shirt..... no?

3: I'm senile.

When I got in my DIY mood, I decided it was time to fix the dishwasher. There is nothing more frustrating than having the dishes come out dirty. So the computer was put on the counter with a Youtube video.

See the center gray piece? All must come out. When I finally go in there, I found clear plastic, blue plastic, unknown objects, and glass. Lots of glass. I was told long ago not to use those 'pods' and I think thats what the blue plastic came from. Still listening to the video, everything went back in place! It was success. It works perfectly now. :)

Another note to add for my future home handyman business: Hammered Woman Repairwork.

Nothing else to say:

The grandchildren are learning to take up relaxing sports. Finn is pretty serious about this golf thing:

Madeline on the other hand like to think outside the box (or sit inside box)

She is asking for a recliner....

My sister Sue and husband, Stew came for a short visit. So I put them to work to earn their keep. First, hanging my heavy wood horses.

And then hung up a new chandelier. I LOVE it.

When things get crazy, find you own safe spot to decompress.

Otherwise, he is always right here:

Some Easter pics:

I was happy to find that Durango still knew me when I went to visit. He loved on me and let me ride around bareback.

Do you plan on finishing that?

As I look back......

Did you know that this existed? Look at all those people!!! Will someone help me start a local club?

Well there you have it. I'm leaving tomorrow for Washington to work on a cold case for a few days. Have a great Mother's Day all you mothers! And I mean that in a nice way.

And if it's your birthday.......Enjoy it to its' fullest.

One step at a time,

Anne

...during my recovery. I am in week 5 of my recovery from ankle surgery. Next week I will head back to Colorado to see my Surgeon for my 6 week post-surgical appointment. I am sure that will be a new start to further my rehab/recovery. At that point I will be 'weaning' myself from my frankenstein boot! Right now I am using only one crutch and slowly giving that up.

While I can only dream right now of running my favorite areas and hiking the trails, I have made a lot discoveries that I want to share.

This is what I've learned:

1. I can toss a 1/2-full bag of sugar to the top shelf of my kitchen cabinet and land it perfectly. (may have taken some practice)

2. Instead of balancing against the kitchen counter while doing dishes, put a chair next to me to rest my knee on made things so much easier.

3. Get a kneeling scooter. (I didn't but so wish I had)

4. I CAN shower while standing on one leg.

5. Taking a hot shower while standing on both legs is glorious.

6. My dogs know when I'm struggling. They just do.

7. SO many channels - nothing to watch.

8. When you are told to have your ankle elevated above your heart while icing, they are expecting you to know that this is when you are lying down.

9. Daughters and Sisters are the best.

10. Some days it's ok to stay in my PJs/sweats all day. (No one - absolutely no one knows)

11. Don't say you are doing ok, if you're not.

12. If someone offers to help - let them! (They want to and you need it!)

13. I love when people randomly send me a quick note asking how I am.

14. All the things that you think you will do while sitting at home, will NOT get done.

15. One needs patience while healing. (I found the longer I've been in the rehab process, the less patience I have...)

I actually find myself shopping on line for trail running shoes......

And now I must finish and get on with my day. Watch the next episode of a Netflix series, and prepare for the painters. Yes! I am having the walls and ceiling on the main floor of my house painted! I am very excited that when I get home from Colorado, it will look amazing!

One step at a time,

Anne
