IT'S AUGUST ALREADY?
I always thought I was the 'glass half full' kind of person, so why when August arrives am I thinking summer is almost over? Luckily I have an exciting vacation starting one week from today. Meanwhile......
Although I have not been running as much as I'd like, I've been on several new trail and road runs. For the first time, I had a hike end on a bad note. I took Jake and Gus on a 5 mile hike. A lot of the hike was on logging roads but after 2-1/2 miles we found some amazing views.
As we headed down hill, I even gathered some wild flowers.
Then suddenly I realized Gus was lagging behind. I decided to give him a rest and sat with him while Jake investigated the area around us.
After a short rest, we began again but this time Gus was limping. The pads on both his front feet were raw. According to my GPS we still had a mile and a half to go! I took off both my socks and put them on his feet. My hair tie went around one of them to keep it on but I had nothing for the other foot. (my shoelaces were quicklaces and don't come off). Slowly.......very, very slowly we made our way down the road stopping every 10 yards or so.
Once we made it home, Gus was in socks for a week. His hiking days are behind him now.
And now on to happier adventures! I have run several new trails. Trails are definitely my favorite place to run. No thinking about speed or distance - just enjoying the run.
Whenever I have a guest at my house, I stay off my computer and social media. Unfortunately, this is the result:
I guess, at heart, I've always been a cowgirl:
Poor little Madeline has been getting some molars and it's been hard for her to sleep. I put her on top of me and she fell right to sleep. This is what Nana's are for. :)
Her hair is Sooooo long, I can now put it in a ponytail.
But when it came time for her family to move into their new house, Madeline is there to pitch in.
When buying the Grandkids a toy, it's always good to see this on the package:
because after all don't we all want to be the gift-giving favorite?
I purchased a new range this week. Thank goodness I read the instruction manual.
Thank goodness if I get bored trying to climb into my oven my HOA has all sorts of exciting activities available.
I should have some amazing photos to share when I get back from vacation. Until then,
One step at a time,
