WHERE have you been? Oh, maybe it's been me? Yes I have been MIA for quite a while now. Several times I've sat down to write, then closed the laptop. At first I blamed it on the Pandemic. What is there to write about when you are sitting on the couch all day?

And yet, I never forgot about my blog and snapped pictures of interesting things during my days. I think I just needed some time. I will not be able to catch you up - that would just be too hard. So I'm starting fresh.

I have kept up my running and dog walking. I have really enjoyed getting out on the beach. The parking or parks are closed, but the actual beach is open.

On one of my beach walks, I noticed this little waterfall.

On one run, a huge group of sandpipers had taken the place of the usual seagulls.

I decided one day to keep my eyes open for some sea glass. The only thing I found was colorful sea plastic. Ugh.

Oh wait.....I did find some local seaglass:

And you know those great people who throw their masks and gloves on the ground? Well this is special....a bag of dog poo.

Someone bagged the poop and then left the bag. And no, no one was around that could pick it back up.

I've registered for several 'virtual' races, since all races are cancelled for the next several months. I got my 'swag' bag for the Cinco de Miler race that I ran. Very exciting!

Meanwhile, back home after my run:

When you live alone, you have to wear these socks upside down.

Finished this 1,000 piece puzzle. Only about 1,000 hours.....

Finn has been actively working on his casting.

Madeline has been actively just being cute.

Finn is very gentle and likes to explain things to 'baby Madeline'.

Not much riding going on but I do go visit Durango out in the field.

After I sit down, he will walk over to see what the heck I'm doing out there.

Not a bad view

When sitting by the door is too subtle....

I bought them new harnesses and they look quite spiffy, don't you think? Spiffy? Who says that?

Gus seems a bit focused.

Learning to walk to together politely. It's a start.

I thought this was a good picture of them until a friend mentioned that Jake's leash (the gray one) appears to be coming straight out of his butt......

Jake's preferred way to travel is with the sunroof wide open.

An amazing sight. I was so excited I was able to catch this! I'm a regular nature photographer!

Are you ready for some cuteness? Ok.

First, a Mayday celebration.

Next, Madeline's opinion of posing for her 1 month photo:

Tennis balls are for sissies.

For the past 48 hours, this has been happening:

The dogs don't go for walks.

And I don't run.

I think if you watch this cat, you can actually see her sigh.......

So let me know how you are getting through these times. Please be safe no matter what.

One step at a time,

Anne

She's Here!!

Yep little Madeline Áine was born on March 19th. So beautiful and perfect. Only Daddy was allowed in the hospital, so Finn and I had to wait until they arrived home for our first peek.

Of course I need to put a few pictures on here now.

Big brother called her "My baby, my baby".

love this.

Hello World!

Blonde hair, blue eyes (so far) and two dimples!

And now back to normal things that we are all experiencing. Isolation, Quarantine, and all that comes with this pandemic. I think walks and running have helped me a lot. So I will share with you what I see each day. In Oregon all parks, playgrounds, etc. are closed but I was still surprised when my wooded trails were closed! The other day I headed to the high school track for a work out and found this:

I ended up doing my workout in the flat, empty parking lot! I was still able to enjoy the morning sunrise.

Another disappointment was to see now there are new pieces of trash on the ground. People! What is wrong with you?

On one especially windy day, apparently the neighbors were working on a science project. Bike-sailing? Wind-biking?

Here are some pictures of what I enjoy seeing while out running. This is at the end of our jetty. I was able to watch several of the fishing boats heading out.

But, while exploring the rocky areas, I still saw garbage.

No more garbage - just pretty.

On a evening walk, Finn took this distancing thing to a new level.

Parking areas along the coast are roped off.

We have certainly had lots of rainy days and I'm so happy to get sunny days. Hail has hit 3 times in 24 hours!

Today was beautiful, so I went for a run that took me first along the ocean and then over to the bay front.

I guess if you can't park in the parking spots, you just park wherever you want!

Maybe they need this sign:

During the rest of my run I did see some sign of self-isolation. I have to admit, I checked on this little guy to make sure he was ok. He was. :)

This man was power washing a dock. I watched him for a while as I sat on a bench. It was very tedious work. For him....not me.

Even this hummingbird was solo. I felt very lucky to stop, get my phone out, and still be able to snap the picture before it flew off.

There are other changes going on in my life. Patient husband and I are no longer together. In fact, the divorce should be final in the next week or two. This view out my window made me change from thinking 'Life as I know it is over' to 'The first day of the rest of my life'.

Rest assured, I am hanging in there and moving on with my new life. And as always taking life -

One step at a time,

Anne

Could we just find a Restart button for 2020? I don't know about you, but I would press it immediately and maybe several times. For now, let's just say my world has been like a tornado and I'm trying hard to land on my feet.

But I'll get to that eventually. Meanwhile I've been acting like a blogger even though I haven't been posting. Taking pictures of anything and everything that is unique, unusual or makes me laugh.

Well, maybe not quite this funny..

I am so happy to have the longer days and of course the warmer temps. Everything is more fun in the warmth.

Durango is now spending lots of time out in the sun and mud. Sometimes disguising himself well enough that the barn family don't recognize him. It's been so long since his mane and tail is it's original white/white, I may need to do the bleaching in several processes.

I'm doing more running but less long distances. I'm working to get my breathing and strength back up to where it used to be. I really got myself worn down at the end of last year. It feels good to just go and run however long feels good.

I always follow the law:

Taking 3 dogs with me always leads to an adventure. Once they ran waaay ahead. Pretty sure they may have gone that-a-way.

Yep!

Of course I always need to take pics of my views. This one from Cannon Beach.

I'm not sure if I always want to take pictures of the ocean/beach because it's so beautiful or if it's because I've only lived on the coast now for 2 years. Or maybe it is both.

This new Grandaughter-to-be, Madeline, is making all her own rules. Twice she has taken her parents to the hospital (2 hours away) only to say "never mind!" or "Just kidding!" One of those times, we camped out at my sister's house over a long weekend to be closer to the hospital. Nothing happened, but we had a great visit.

This is Amanda and my sister, Marcia walking to the beach. Note Haystack Rock in the distance.

Finn and Daddy - twinsies.

One visit they stayed overnight at a hotel. Finn thinks this is just fine.

Baby Madeline is already a great helper in holding up the phone.....

Here is Finn on the bench, waiting for his turn at pretend baseball.

Batter Up!

This means 1) I've never loved you more but are you going to eat all of that?

or 2) If you don't get off the couch and go for a run, I'll go out of my mind; or

3) Can we cuddle?

Gus likes to steal something out of Finn's overnight bag and sleep with it.

Tomorrow is D-day. (Delivery day), so I'll be sending out Madeline pictures! Hurray - finally!

And now with chaos in my personal life and maybe yours, and chaos in all of our lives with the corona-virus, let's just take

One step at a time,

Anne
